Past Project: Lighthouse Latch Hook

Just thought I’d share another past project. My mom likes to decorate with lighthouses. So naturally, as I was walking down the aisle in Hobby Lobby one day, I had to pick up a Lighthouse latch hook kit. For those of you who don’t know what the heck latching hooking is….it’s a pain in the butt. ๐Ÿ˜› No seriously.

Latching hooking is where you use a tool, like the one shown on the right,ย and hook several (read: thousands) of tiny pieces of yarn to a piece of thatched canvas. While I’m glad to say I finished the project, I will probably never start one again. Of course, I made the mistake of getting a giant kit, which didn’t help. It was so tedious keeping all the colors straight and hooking all those pieces of yarn. And being a crafter, I’m usually ok with tedious tasks sewing and crafting sometimes requires, but my goodness, it was almost too tedious for me! It actually took me years to finish it because once I put it down, I never wanted to pick it back up.

Hehe, but in any case, mom loved it.

Here is a picture of the finished product:

And here is a picture of it hanging on her wall:
Lovely! If I do say so myself ๐Ÿ˜‰
