Pinterest Weekend: Christmas Edition Day 2

On to Day 2 (Sunday) of Pinterest Weekend: Christmas Edition! If you missed it, check out Day 1 where we made Pretzel Kisses, a cheese ball present, and other yummy goodies.

On Sunday we continued and finished our Gingerbread House.

This awesome Gingerbread House was made from scratch and took the entire weekend! We started on Friday night by making the dough using this recipe. It was then put in the refrigerator to chill overnight.
On Saturday, we rolled, cut, and baked the pieces for the house. If we were smart, we would have read the entire recipe before making the dough….because then we would have realized that one recipe would result in 2 houses. But oh well, I just used the leftover dough for cookies. 🙂 We printed off these templates for the house, and let the pieces cool over night (though a few hours would have done the trick).
On Sunday morning we made the icing using this recipe and finally put the base house together. (Side note: I do not have those fancy schmancy piping bags for the icing, so we just used a ziploc baggy and it worked just as well).
We had to wait for the icing to harden before decorating the house. So while we waited, we got started on the cookies.
We made Grinch Cookies (mint chocolate chip) and Reindeer Cookies (peanut butter). Click on the names of the cookies to link to the recipes.
Here are a few pictures of the Reindeer Cookies:

They were just regular peanut butter cookies, decorated to look like Rudolph. 🙂 The one problem we had with these was putting on the ears, eyes, and nose. You had to push in the M&M’s and pretzels as soon as they came out of the oven, but the cookies cooled quickly so it was a mad rush to get all the decorations on them. Don’t look too closely, a few of them may have cross eyes, wide eyes, or cataracts. LOL

We also made Grinch Cookies.

The Grinch Cookies were my favorite! They actually tasted just like Girl Scout thin mints. 🙂 I even had to fend them off from Hubs so they could cool properly and set up.

And what are Grinch Cookies without some Grinch Punch??

So we popped in the movie and made some Grinch Punch and relaxed for a little bit.

Although you can’t tell from the picture, it’s just a Lime Sherbet float with Sprite. Simple, yet delicious. 🙂
After the movie was over, our gingerbread house was finally ready to decorate. We may or may not have gotten icing everywhere, but it was super fun! 😛
We even have a teddy gram making a snow angel in the front yard. (Because I know you were wondering why he was laying flat LOL). Or you can just pretend he was assassinated like my Hubs suggested.
And finally, before Shannon has to rush out the door to go home and *psh* go back to work the next day…we painted our nails Christmas colors.
We had plans of making cute little snowflakes on our nails, but that was just way too tedious for our time constraints. Maybe next time. 🙂
And that’s it for Pinterest Weekend: Christmas Edition! What do you think? Are you going to have your own Pinterest Weekend? Comment and let me know what you think and if you host your own!! I’d love to see all the awesome Pinterest creations!
I believe *we* already have another weekend in the works. It will probably end up being all the projects we didn’t get around to doing for Halloween and Christmas hehe.
